Since launching it’s new Somerset advocacy service in May 2015 leading welfare rights charity Swan Advocacy has already past the impressive milestone, reaching over 1000 of the most vulnerable members the community, with demand growing daily
The charity provides free, independent advocacy support for adults in Somerset, who are often disadvantaged, experience discrimination due to perceptions of and attitudes towards age, illness and disability.
Swan’s Chief Executive Teresa Wells said “Since we launched the new service in May2015, we have seen a real upsurge in demand. The people we support are at significant risk of social isolation, discrimination and inequality – we believe that everyone has the right to be heard, have choice and control and to be safe from violence and abuse. We have an exceptionally skilled and experienced team of advocates in Somerset and are really proud to have already supported over 1000 people to improve the quality of their lives”
