Swan Gala Celebration – Wednesday 16 March 2016.
Over the past 17 years we have supported over 10,000 of the most vulnerable people of Wiltshire to challenge injustice, have choice and control, and be safe from violence and abuse.
In recognition of the contribution individuals have made to the organisation, and the Wiltshire community, we hosted a gala evening at Salisbury Arts Centre attended by staff, trustees and volunteers past and present, including founder members of the organisation.
The evening saw awards presented to individuals nominated due to their exceptional commitment and outstanding contribution to our work.
A special award was presented to Mary Paisey in memory of her husband and former Mayor of Salisbury Patrick Paisey for his support of Swan in 2005, which enabled us to survive brutal funding cuts by the former PCT.
The evening also marked the loss of the Wiltshire Advocacy Service contract which we had helped to develop and deliver since 2007.
Swan’s Chair of Trustees Irene Kohler said “We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved in Wiltshire over the past 17 years and devastated that from the 1st of April we will no longer be providing this service. It is important for us to celebrate what we have achieved in Wiltshire and not lose sight of the difference we have made to so many lives. It is also important that we demonstrate our ongoing commitment to supporting those in need in Wiltshire and our determination to survive this blow and grow stronger for it.”
