We work with people from all walks of life and have already supported thousands of the most disadvantaged and marginalised people in our communities, helping them to have their voices heard and their choices respected by those that are making decisions about their future.
Since 1999, we have developed a high-quality model of advocacy which ensures the most vulnerable members of our communities have the same rights and opportunities as their fellow citizens.
We believe that everyone has the same right to be heard, be in control of making choices, and to be safe from violence and abuse. Our services are free, confidential and non-judgmental. Our approach is focussed on empowering individuals in making decisions, promoting independence as much as possible.
Early this year we became the proud holders of the Advocacy Quality Performance Mark.
SWAN gains The Advocacy Quality Performance Mark (AQPM) - only awarded to advocacy organisations who can demonstrate that they are providing excellent services to people often experiencing challenging situations in their lives. It indicates that we have the training and policies in place to ensure people’s rights are upheld and their preferences are heard and responded to.
SWAN secures the contract to provide statutory advocacy services in South Gloucestershire and continues to provide high quality services in Wiltshire, Somerset and B&NES.
SWAN was awarded the contract to provide statutory advocacy services across Somerset.
We were awarded a grant from the Big Lottery Fund to provide a dementia advocacy service across all the areas we work.
SWAN was awarded a contract to provide Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy, Independent Mental Health Advocacy and generic mental health advocacy in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) for three years.
SWAN was established and provided multiple advocacy services throughout Wiltshire for ten years.
